An online course should not be chosen if one of the Okemos Public Schools offers the course and the course can be scheduled in the student’s daily schedule. Okemos Public Schools strongly believes that a student should only choose online courses if (1) a desired course is not offered by one of the Okemos Public Schools or (2) a student’s course schedule presents a conflict which prohibits the student from enrolling in a course offered at Okemos High School. In Section 21f of the Michigan School Code students are permitted to enroll in up to two online courses per semester. If the opportunity exists for students to enroll in a course offered at the middle or high school, students are strongly encouraged to do so. Students must take at least 51% of their degree or certificate requirements in an on-campus, face-to-face environment.Īccess to courses on blackboard on the first day of classes will begin at 8:30am.Okemos Public Schools strongly believes that face-to-face classroom instruction at the middle and high school levels is the best learning environment for students.
